Choosing Fabrics for Gowns
One of the most important aspects of a wedding gown is its fabric. No matter how well-fitting a gown may be, and no matter how beautiful its design, it will still look drab if it is made with an unsuitable cloth. So, when you have your wedding gown designed, you and your designer must devote time to choosing the fabric. While you may prefer some types of cloth, you should also listen to your designer’s suggestions, as he or she will know what fabric best suits a particular design.
Know that you are not limited to choosing just one material for your gown. You can have a combination of two different cloths. In Cebu, where textiles are one of the main export items, finding a suitable fabric should not be a problem. It would be good for you to hunt for fabrics in the malls and in the downtown area. It would also be best to show some swaps to your designer before settling on a type of cloth.
There are various fabrics that are wonderful for wedding gowns. Silk is one of the most popular choices for wedding gowns, with silk charmeuse being a fantastic, though, expensive choice. Charmeuse usually comes with a satin finish. It looks lustrous and feels very smooth. It is good for bias-cut gowns that cling to the body. Chiffon, which can be made from polyester, silk or rayon, is also a popular choice for gowns for the bride and the entourage because of its soft drape. On the other hand, crepe back satin can is truly attractive because both sides of the fabric can be dyed, meaning that the fabric can be reversible. Each side can be distinct in its allure. Crepe back satin works well on flowing gowns.
